Exercise in emergent field of memo-dromology. Reprivileging of our four favorite dimensions. 3D illusionism gets tricked bad: one eye perceives progressive acceleration towards indecipherable bliss-mash; one eye perceives a distancing, concretizing return to recognizability. A dozen hundred images collected over a few months in India merged, melded and morphed.

Video in which both the myth and truth of three-dimensionality in the cinema is confronted with a reordering of the top four most famous dimensions. To wit: the illusion of three-dimensionality is heightened by the expectation of such an effect, meanwhile the literal depth of space created by the conical light whose base is the screen and whose topknot is the projector is ignored. All the while, the images on the screen are reordered such that the two image tracks do not create the typical re-spatializing effect attendant to “three-d” movies, rather the space created by the image tracks is one of a self-reflexive and self-contained time: the left and right eyes separately perceive the videos as moving towards and moving away, of moving forward in time and moving in reverse, and of accelerating towards unrecognizability and slowing to a halt of apprehensibility. As such, even a perfectly and physically impossible flat screen would still play host to the first, second and fourth dimensions.
