L'BANDIT ART (2006), 5 minutes, b/w, sound, video

A scene from Jean-Luc Godard's 1964 Bande à part—in which a language class plays host to a screwball, sexually-charged chase scene in stifled motion—is imbued with new (non)meaning through the deployment of the poetic device of transliteratively translated subtitles. The sonic capacity of language overtakes more traditional forms of meaning-making. Unwitting sketch for three-channel video installation JLG//JPL (jm) (2007).
